If being creative is one of the biggest joys in your life and photography your favorite way of expression, then we have at least two things in common. But are we really being creative, and thus entitled to call ourselves ‘artists’? What if, from a third person’s point of view, we are mere craftsmen with cameras who replicate ideas and techniques of other photographers?
It is for that reason that I’ve been asking myself, as I am asking you: what makes for true creativity? Does something like originality really not exist, as Sir John Hegarty claims in his book “Hegarty On Creativity”? What is the role of art? I know that there is no straight answer to any of these questions but I want to find out as much as I can and invite you to join me.
Me? I am a photographer (*1971) who wants to move on to his personal next level of creativity.
